Kumari Jayawardena is a leading feminist activist and academic in Sri Lanka. She is the author of The Rise of the Labour Movement in Ceylon; Ethnic and Class Conflict in Sri Lanka; Feminism and Nationalism in the Third World; The White Woman’s Other Burden; and Nobodies to Somebodies—the Rise of the Colonial Bourgeoisie in Sri Lanka; among other. A graduate of the London School of Economics and Sciences Po in Paris, she taught in the Political Science and Women’s Studies programs at Colombo University.
